Cookies

Netus uses the bare minimum: the cookies needed to make it work, plus one measurement tool that only starts if you let it. There are no advertising cookies and no profiling, and we sell data to nobody.
The first time you arrive you get a banner with two equal paths — accept or decline — and neither is hidden or set in smaller type than the other. If you decline, the site works exactly the same: you lose nothing.
What we actually use
These are all strictly necessary cookies, for which the law requires no prior consent. You can still clear them from your browser settings: you will be signed out and will have to log in again.
In the Chrome extension panel the session cookies are partitioned: the login in there is separate from the one on the site, and stays separate.
- Session cookies, set by Supabase, that keep you signed in from one page to the next. Without them the application cannot work.
- One cookie that remembers your chosen language, so you do not have to set it again every time.
- A cookie that lasts fifteen minutes, written only when you open the password reset link: it is what lets you set a new password without typing the old one, and it expires on its own.
- While the site is behind a password gate, a cookie that remembers you already got past it.
- A Cookiebot cookie holding your answer on this page, so you are not asked again on every screen. It lasts twelve months and is also what lets us demonstrate that we asked you.
Measurement, if you say yes
We use Google Analytics to understand which parts of Netus get used and which do not: how many people arrive, from where, which pages they open, where they stop. It writes its own cookies, lasting up to two years, and the data may be processed in the United States.
It only starts after a yes. This is not a token block: if you decline, Google’s script is not loaded at all and no request leaves your browser for them.
- What we measure: pages opened, where you came from, device type, approximate country, and a few counted gestures — a contact added, an import finished, a button pressed.
- What never leaves, not even with your consent: your contacts’ names, emails and phone numbers, notes, memories, interactions, the text of any field. In the addresses of pages about a person the identifier is replaced before anything is sent, so no measured figure can be traced back to anyone.
What we do not use either way
No social pixels, no ad networks, no remarketing, no fonts loaded from external CDNs. Our users’ public pages — the ones at /p/ — receive none of this: they do not carry our measurement to their visitors and show them no banner.
Changing your mind
At the foot of every public page, and in your profile, there is “Manage cookies”: it reopens the same window as the first time, and your answer can be changed in either direction, as often as you like. Withdrawing consent must cost what giving it costs, and here it costs the same click.
If we ever add another tool, we will update this page and ask for your consent again before switching it on.
